Steppenwolf 7

First released in 1970 on Dunhill Records this album still rocks with the best of them.
John Kay's distinctive vocals and harmonica playing added to Larry Byrom on lead guitar, Jerry Edmunton on drums, Goldie McJohn on keyboards, and George Biondo on bass is a sound that is as interesting today as it was 35 plus years ago. When you haven't listened to it for awhile and get it out you are always rewarded with a listening experience that makes you want to listen to it again and again.
If you've never listened to this album, may arguably be the best album the band ever recorded, you are in for an audio treat. From the edgy "Ball Crusher" cut through "Forty Days and Forty Nights" and the raccaous "Who Needs Ya'" you will not be disappointed.

Dopers, Drunks, and Everyday Losers

I wanted to start this blog out with a new release, something I haven't listened to a hundred times, something fresh......
Wow! It's been been 20 years since Commander Cody (aka George Frayne) released a studio album. This 2009 release contains updated versions of some of his most beloved Lost Planet Airmen tracks plus some fresh new stuff. This album is a mixture of boogie-woogie, blues, country, and swing that just rocks.
I loved this album!
The Commander can still play the barroom piano with the best of them. The only cut I didn't care for on the album when I first heard it was the new version of the "Seeds and Stems Again Blues", it does however grow on you after a couple of plays. I would highly recommend this album as an addition to your collection when you want a party album that's like nothing else on the market today Click here for more info.www.commandercody.com

Welcome To My Music Reviews

I am going to start this website to share my thoughts and experiences with the music in my life. You will probably not find any "Bubble-Gum" style music reviewed here. Probably not a lot of mainstream music from today's music scene either. I am going to post about music I feel strongly about or music I enjoy listening to.
